Andy and Nora plan to take up the Banjul Challenge this winter. Leaving on boxing day we will depart the UK on the Eurotunnel down through France and over the Millau Bridge. From there down the east coast of Spain visiting Gibraltar on the way to the ferry to Morocco. Once across the ferry we plan to cross the Atlas Mountains and over to Marrakech for 3 days stopover for New Years. Then we head north to Rabat to get a visa for Mauritania before the start of the real trip. Heading south along the coast through Western Sahara and crossing into the tropics near Dakla. Then on down through Mauritania with a three day crossing of the Saharan dunes and drive for 50 odd miles on the Atlantic coast beach timed inbetween the tides. Hopefully a not too stressful border crossing into Senegal heading for the Zebrabar for a couple of days then on again passing Dakar, making it to Banjul the capital of The Gambia in around three to four weeks.
Hopefully blunder free we shall donate our trusty Jeep to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to local Gambian charities.
Both of us love to travel and but have driven the dam M6 end to end once too often.
Bring on the sand!
