Madad's Army
Jeremy Wilkinson
Kathleen Fenwick

Madad's Army is joined by Margaret Walton and Matthew Howells, who will be doing the PBC for the first time. Kate was one of the few who made it thru in Jan. 2010 which was her first trip. Jeremy aka Capt. Mainwaring, has been 4 times before. Our Dodge Ram van with windows is called Roger and is the colour of the desert - sandy beige! We shall be going to Albreda in the Gambia with loads of equipment, clothing etc... and we shall be doing some repairs to the Nursery School and to the desks and chairs. Albreda is reached via a 36 kilometre dirt track turning off the road to the ferry at the ferry ticket office. N.B. this office is a few kilometres BEFORE you get to the ferry to cross the river into Banjul! You other entrants may have had enough travelling by this point, however, it is the village where Arthur Hayley apparently traced his Roots to. Whether the story is true or not, the area has genuine slave trade connections and is worth a visit for that alone. There is a camp ground with some bungalows and a rustic restaurant. The Gambia is more than Banjul, as indeed the UK is more than London! We set off from UK in December 2010. Wish us luck! You can follow us on Twitter this year: wheelsaturnin
